Stories by Students, for Students
HBCU.news is a student-powered digital news brand documenting what HBCU students are navigating in real time — mentally, economically, digitally, and culturally.
Our Mission
We believe HBCU students deserve journalism that reflects their lived experiences — not just what makes headlines, but what shapes their daily reality.
Too often, stories about HBCUs are told from the outside looking in. We're flipping that script. Our team of student journalists, writers, and reporters are embedded in the experience they're covering. They're not observers — they're participants.
From mental health and financial aid to technology access and policy change, we cover the issues that matter most to students today. And we're building for the future: soon, video will become our primary format, bringing these stories to life in new and powerful ways.
What We Stand For
Student-Centered
Every story starts with student voices. We prioritize the perspectives of those living the HBCU experience every day.
Truth-Telling
We report honestly about both challenges and triumphs. Our journalism is rigorous, fair, and fact-based.
Future-Focused
We're building for what's next: video-first storytelling, multimedia journalism, and platforms that meet students where they are.
